Quantitative Risk Modelling and analytics are key enablers in the strategy development, business model execution and risk management of Financial Services entities including banks, insurance companies, asset managers and aviation lessors. The use of complex mathematical, econometric and statistical modelling techniques to measure, manage and control risks continues to grow in both use and importance across Financial Services sectors.
PwC’s Financial Services Risk Modelling professionals work on a variety of types of projects in the development, monitoring and assurance of and quantitative models and model environments serving Financial Services clients. Risk Modelling associates joining our team today get exposure to a very broad set of data analytics challenges and approaches as well as opportunities to work across multiple Financial Services sectors, clients and risk types (e.g. credit risk, market risk, model risk, operational risk, climate risk).
Associates joining as part of our graduate programme also receive support to complete a [relevant] part-time postgraduate programme - the combination of academic progression, technical training and [practical] on-the-job experience enables associates joining our team to develop the technical and [industry] skills and knowledge required on their career journey to becoming successful Quantitative Risk professionals.

You will sit within our Banking, Insurance and Aviation Finance (BIA) department where you will join a team of over 200 professionals that is constantly evolving and growing. You will work with some of the leading companies in Financial Services industry sectors and you’ll be part of a highly talented and experienced PwC team.
Our clients face many challenges from the current and prospective economic climate and rapidly evolving regulation. We have highly skilled specialist teams across Actuarial, Credit Risk, Market Risk, Aviation Finance and Regulatory disciplines to help them meet these challenges.

Role/Responsibilities
This is an ideal opportunity for a quantitative analyst looking to develop their knowledge of quantitative finance, predictive modelling, data science and risk management across a broad range of financial services clients. The role provides an excellent route for individuals who:
- Are graduates of numerate or quantitative degrees who want to pursue a career in quantitative finance and have a desire to develop into a skilled risk professional in a financial services environment; or
- Are looking to add practical experience to a predominantly academic background, e.g. MSc / PhD students looking for a role in industry; or
- Want to significantly broaden their quantitative skills across a number of disciplines.

Responsibilities will include:
- Researching and solving technical queries posed by clients and our senior leadership;
- Developing analytics tools, tests, documentation and related processes to meet and exceed the requirements of stakeholders in the various BIA quantitative modelling groups;
- Playing an active role in auditing of clients’ models, including supporting the development and completion of model assurance reports;
- Working with stakeholders on current and new regulatory compliance and model testing requirements.
- Delivering innovative solutions across many aspects of our client engagements and internal initiatives utilising many aspects of data science and evolving practices: Financial Modelling, Data Engineering, Statistical Analysis, Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics, and Machine Learning.
What you’ll need
- We’re looking for a highly numerate candidate with an excellent academic record (minimum 2.1) in undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics or econometrics.
- A good level of proficiency in data analysis – experience with programming languages (e.g. SAS, R, Python, MATLAB, etc.) and working with databases (e.g. SQL) would be an advantage
- The ability to take initiative, work in a team-oriented environment along-side good general problem solving mentality, with the ability to pick up new technologies and approaches to modelling.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with different teams on solutions to a variety of different analysis & data related problems.
- Some knowledge of financial markets and products would be an advantage but not a requirement.
