Why did you choose to apply to a graduate role at Diageo?
Diageo is a company which is committed to providing the best. The best products, a unique supportive culture which embraces diversity and the talent it brings to the table. Working for a company which is concerned with its stakeholders and the environment it operates in makes me feel proud.
That was exactly what I was looking for when I applied to a Finance role at Diageo: to provide my best performance and contribute to the success of a leading company which I share my values and passion with.
Tell us about your experience as a graduate with Diageo? – what kind of support is offered, what is the culture like, etc.
This is a great opportunity to apply your knowledge/skills in real world scenario and see how the work is done in real life inside a big company. Diageo supports its employees in every aspect and invests in our career development. A good example of it is that during the graduate programme, CIMA qualification support is offered to us alongside a mentorship programme.
You can be sure you will be in a workplace where Radical liberation is incentivized, you feel safe to speak up and express yourself to freely contribute with your ideas.
Teams make sure you are included, and leadership wants your voice to be heard. You will have the opportunity to work closely to people who are willing to share enormous experience/advice with you and also a friendly word, always.
Tell us about your current graduate role with Diageo? What’s the most exciting thing about it?
The most exciting thing about the roles is that during the programme you will have the opportunity to keep learning through the whole process as each year you will be performing in a different position (and probably market!) within the area of the business you are in.
You can get a better understanding about how business is done and how the company operates from different angles.
What skills/knowledge did you learn at university that you are now implementing in role?
I am in the Finance part of the business, therefore accounting is a must, obviously. But business is about people, so Leadership, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills are essential to any role in any area you apply to at Diageo.
