Diageo

I chose to apply to Diageo after my trip to India in 2019, as a south Asian women I really wanted to represent from my culture, educate and break stereotypes people have about drinking culture. Secondly I chose to apply to Diageo as I am extremely interested in the food and drinks industry.

I wish I Knew how much fun I was going to have at the company and the amazing people I was going to meet. I was extremely anxious to join, and I really wish I wasn’t

I work in J & B ventures, looking after Santiago De Cuba Rum. My customers are London based and my role is essentially to increase distribution in this region! The role is extremely entrepreneurial, Independent and fun. I’ve grown to fall in love with SDC, which makes me really proud to represent the liquid.

During my time at university the skills I’ve transferred to my role now is time management, healthy life-work balance and commitment. I had a placement year which allowed me to organise my time efficiently to allow myself to get all my tasks done whilst enjoying my time outside of work. Commitment came from my dissertation module, I put a lot of research and time into the project and learnt that consistency pays off.

Believe in yourself, be yourself, and be kind to yourself. Securing a graduate role is extremely tough, and you can be demoralising. But keep going, and praise yourself for having the courage to apply, go through interviews, and participate in assessment centres. What’s meant to be in your life will come at the right time.
