Kellee Crean, Financial Services Advisory Intern at Grant Thronton
Thinking of a summer internship programme this year? Meet Kellee Crean; trainee within our Financial Services Advisory department, based in our Galway office, who shares some highlights from her internship.
What made you sign up to the Grant Thornton Summer Internship Programme?
I joined Grant Thornton’s Summer Internship Programme last summer, as part of a placement for my Masters in Corporate Finance. Based from the Galway office, I joined as an intern within the Financial Services Advisory (FSA) team where I was immediately met with welcoming colleagues who showed me the ropes.
What was the experience like for you?
As part of the Internship, I took part in a five-week team project which involved presenting findings and recommendations from a set of company accounts to a client. My team was one of four teams chosen to present in Dublin, where we were given the chance to visit the Dublin office and present our project to some of the Grant Thornton Ireland Partners. This was a major pillar in my professional learning and development.
On the social side, the events were plentiful. Some of the highlights to me include; a team dinner where we had a chance to meet everyone in the Galway office and also those from the Cork office, who has made the journey up West.
I also attended the Summer BBQ event where we were treated to a BBQ in the Galmont Hotel. The last event of the summer was the Galway Races, which we attended as a team and placed a few successful (mostly unsuccessful) bets.
Would you recommend the Grant Thornton Summer Internship Programme?
I cannot recommend the Summer Internship programme enough. To sum up my Internship, I was offered the opportunity to join the Graduate programme for the next three years and study my Accountancy exams, which I accepted.
