For Purpose was established to attract, mentor and develop the future leaders of the nonprofit sector.
The programme connects nonprofit and charity organisations with talented graduates who are searching for purpose in their careers and the opportunity to make an impact on civil society. The nonprofit sector encompasses a broad range of organisations, activities and services, from social services organisations who work with vulnerable people to health organisations who provide vital, life-saving services. The sector also includes educational organisations, housing bodies, youth work agencies and international charities.
The programme has three elements:
- Work placement : one-year paid employment with a nonprofit organisation
- Mentoring and reflective practice : monthly meetings with a mentor to discuss work and future career goals
- Learning and development : monthly seminar with sector experts and/or peers
Fostering Future Leaders
For purpose believes in the value of bringing graduate talent into the nonprofit sector and helping those graduates thrive through work, mentoring and learning opportunities. We believe these graduates will go on to become the future leaders in the sector.
Graduate trainees on the For Purpose programme are supported by one-to-one monthly mentoring sessions provided by experienced professionals working in the nonprofit sector as well as attending monthly learning seminars covering a range of areas directly related to the sector. For Purpose provides you with the supports and foundation to begin your career and develop your skills and potential as a leader. Previous participants on the programme have welcomed the opportunity to find a way into working with an organisation, or on an issue, that is of personal interest. They have also spoken of the value of having a mentor to guide you in the workplace and to challenge you to think about career development.
For Purpose works with a diverse range of nonprofits. We currently have graduates placed in roles including as Programme Co-ordinator, Housing Officer, Communications and Marketing Executive, Fundraising Executive, and Human Resources Executive.
We advertise roles throughout the year and encourage you to follow us here and through social media to see the vacancies as soon as they are announced.
