Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) is a third level institute with five campuses in the West of Ireland.

GMIT Galway campus is based on the Dublin Road in Galway city, and comprises of four main Schools of study:

GMIT’s second Galway city campus is GMIT Galway School of Design and Creative Arts on the Monivea road in Galway city. This campus offers courses in film & documentary, contemporary art, design, fine art, and textiles.

GMIT Mayo Campus in Castlebar has a population of approximately 1,000 students and offers courses in Business, Engineering, Humanities, Nursing, Health Sciences and Social Care and Technology.

GMIT Mountbellew is located approximately 40 minutes’ drive from Galway city and offers a range of Agri-Business, Agri-Science and Agri-Engineering courses.

GMIT’s Letterfrack campus in Connemara, Co. Galway is the National Centre of Excellence for Furniture Design and Wood Technology. Courses include Furniture design and manufacture, Furniture and wood technology, Teacher education (construction studies and DCG)

GMIT is strongly focused on providing graduates with an opportunity to develop their potential through the provision of taught postgraduate programmes and research opportunities at Masters and PhD level.


MSc in Conservation Behaviour

The MSc in Conservation Behaviour at GMIT is a one-year taught programme that focuses on how animal behaviour can be applied to wildlife conservation. You will study the behaviour of a wide range of animals from marine, freshwater and terrestrial habitats, and gain practical skills in topics such as geographic information systems, acoustic monitoring and data analysis. You will also carry out a major research thesis on a real conservation problem, in collaboration with an external organisation, providing you with valuable experience for a future career in wildlife conservation and management.

H.Dip Engineering in Building Information Modelling

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is an innovative new approach to building design, construction, and management. BIM has changed the way industry professionals worldwide think about how technology can be applied to building design, construction, and management. BIM also supports the continuous and immediate availability of project design, scope, schedule, and cost information that is high quality, reliable, integrated, and fully coordinated. This programme is designed as a direct response to the skill and competency needs of the construction industry.
