Nature conservation officers manage the local environment with an emphasis on preserving and protecting areas of natural beauty, and setting targets to promote biodiversity. Their role involves promoting awareness on environmental issues, encouraging people to use the countryside in an informed and respectful manner, and advising local government. They work for local authorities, national organisations and charities.
