Bioprocessing Science - Sligo

This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principal scientific and engineering challenges in the manufacturing of biopharmaceutical products, thereby making them highly employable within the Biotechnology, Biopharmaceutical and Medical Technology Industries. The course encourages participants to develop the competencies and key skills to be employed in technical/managerial role, developing skills to work and communicate with autonomy and effectively.



Who should apply?

Graduates are typically employed in managerial positions in Scientific, Operations and Quality Assurance / Control positions in the Biopharmaceutical and Medical Biotechnology industry sectors both within Ireland and abroad. Graduates might also find employment more broadly within the Healthcare sector, medical device industries and in areas of Research and Development.

The programme is open to students who have obtained an hours degree (Level 8) or equivalent in an appropriate discipline (i.e Engineering or Life Sciences). Other candidates with alternative honours degrees and relevant experience in the Biopharmaceutical industry (typically 5 years duration in a GMP environment) may apply for consideration through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.

When to Apply

There are two major intake periods throughout the academic year, September and January. For January start courses, applications typically open in October, and for September start courses, applications typically open in February. On-Campus Attendance

This is a full-time programme with attendance required on campus along with online delivery and laboratory scale and pilot scale experiments in both Sligo and NIBRT for an overall blended learning approach.
