Overview
The Master of Science in Building Information Modelling and Digital Leadership is a programme that will directly respond to a significant gap in national and international educational provision related to digital leadership across the built environment value chain.

The programme will provide a flexible, multidisciplinary, and industry-focused programme that will empower graduates to lead the transition towards a collaborative digitalised built environment.

This course uses a work-based research learning practice. Each student will gain a broader knowledge, both National and International, on forward thinking strategies which can be applied to their interests and situation. Students will use Model based Analytical tools and Process analysis tools to improve their Organisation understanding of potential of BIM.

The expectation is that each student will become a BIM Leader within their organisation and have a clear set of skills to strategically develop BIM in their Organisation or Practice.

Subjects taught

Year 1
Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Digital Leadership 15 credits
Visual Programming for Digital Construction 15 credits
Building Information Modelling for Sustainability 15 credits
Build Digital Applied Work-Based Research Project 30 credits

Year 2
Build Digital Thesis 30 credits

Entry requirements

Candidates must hold a cognate level 8 Bachelor (Honours) degree with a minimum grade classification of H2.2 or equivalent e.g., Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Architecture, Construction Economics and Surveying, Building Information Modelling, or other similar degrees, which provide students with knowledge of BIM as a technology and a process.

Candidates who do not meet the H2.2 performance standard in a level 8 award will be required to pass a qualifying assignment at a H2.2 performance standards, as established by the Programme Board for the programme in question and as approved by the Registrar. GMIT is committed to the principles of transparency, equity, and fairness in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and to the principle of valuing all learning regardless of the mode or place of its acquisition.

RPL will be implemented in accordance with GMIT's Academic Code of Practice No. 6, which outlines the policies and procedures for the Recognition of Prior Learning. Guidance for applicants is provided on www.myexperience.ie Candidates who are non-native English speakers are required to have a minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS or equivalent.
