This 15 credit certificate will provide the participants with in depth knowledge and skills relating to construction commercial awareness and finance risks. This course will be delivered fully online part time, normally over one Semester.
This course provides the participants with an overview and understanding of the construction procurement processes and commercial risk management relating to construction contract law and finance risk management. The course aims to provide the participant with the skills and practical experience to plan and manage these key risks within the construction sector. . As the construction industry and project delivery become ever more complex awareness of the key commercial risk is must. This course is ideal for both recently qualified graduates within the construction industry who wish to specialize in this growing area and also experienced employees looking to up skill to meet the coming challenges.
Key Course Information
The Certificate in Construction Law, Procurement and Finance is a 15 credit programme offered via online distance learning through live lectures (which are also recorded for revision etc) over a period of one year on a part-time basis. The programme consists of three subject modules. The student can complete the course of 15 credits at their own pace over a number of years subject to availability of modules. Online lectures, programme materials, innovative learning, web-links and assessments will be uploaded to a Moodle course management system. Examinations can also be undertaken online, with no requirement to visit the campus.

Entry requirements
Candidates will be expected to hold a minimum second-class honours degree Level 8 qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent. As this programme caters for all professions, any Level 8 qualification will be considered.
Applicants without the standard academic qualification and with relevant work experience may also be considered through ATU Sligo's Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) process. RPL is a process that may allow you to gain admission to a programme or to receive exemptions / credit from some parts of a programme based on demonstrated learning that you may have achieved through another programme of study or through your work and career. All programmes advertised will run subject to sufficient student numbers.

For September, applications open from 1st February each year. Closing date for receipt of applications is 31st august.
For January, applications open from 1st November each year. Closing date for applications is mid-January.
The online application form requires personal details, previous qualifications, professional accreditations, employment history and a personal statement. We recommend collating all the necessary paperwork i.e. Transcripts of previous qualifications, academic certificates before you submit an application.
Once submitted, our admissions team will contact you to confirm eligibility and request copies of any previous qualifications.
Academic staff review every application and approve eligible candidates for the programme.
Admissions team will notify you if you are accepted onto the course and will request deposit to confirm your place.
