Course Overview
The varying and complex nature of the construction industry has led to an increase in demand for managers with the skills to analyse, manage and solve intricate problems that often arise on major projects. Designed to address this demand, this accredited, part-time Certificate in Construction Law, Procurement and Finance is particularly suitable if you have an interest in the commercial aspects of the construction industry and would like the confidence to operate in the challenging environment of contractual arrangements.
This 15 credit certificate will provide the participants with in depth knowledge and skills relating to construction commercial awareness and finance risks. This course will be delivered fully online part time, normally over one Semester.
This course provides the participants with an overview and understanding of the construction procurement processes and commercial risk management relating to construction contract law and finance risk management. The course aims to provide the participant with the skills and practical experience to plan and manage these key risks within the construction sector.

Programme Structure
The Certificate in Construction Law, Procurement and Finance is a 15 credit programme offered via online distance learning through live lectures (which are also recorded for revision etc) over a period of one year on a part-time basis. The programme consists of three subject modules. The student can complete the course of 15 credits at their own pace over a number of years subject to availability of modules. Online lectures, programme materials, innovative learning, web-links and assessments will be uploaded to a Moodle course management system.

Entry requirements
Candidates will be expected to hold a minimum second-class honours degree Level 8 qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent. As this programme caters for all professions, any Level 8 qualification will be considered.
Applicants without the standard academic qualification and with relevant work experience may also be considered through ATU Sligo’s Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) process. RPL is a process that may allow you to gain admission to a programme or to receive exemptions / credit from some parts of a programme based on demonstrated learning that you may have achieved through another programme of study or through your work and career.
