Diversity & Inclusion in Further Education & Training

It is designed to help participants develop innovative professional ideas and practice to support learners with diverse educational needs in a range of settings. It will allow participants to explore the theoretical factors underpinning policy and practice in the areas of diversity and inclusion and apply course knowledge and skills to their professional practice. It will enable participants to reflect critically on their professional role, practice, and context to evaluate and improve future teaching and learning.

In the 24/25 academic year, application is restricted to those who have been approved for sponsorship by the City of Dublin Education and Training Board, Dublin Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board and other approved Education and Training Boards. Course Structure
The Postgraduate Certificate will take one year to complete part-time and will comprise 30 ECTS. There will be three modules in total each with face-to-face and online components.

Applicants will have the option to progress to the Diploma and Masters

Course Content
This is a unique programme which aims to respond to a clearly identified need in the professional development of practitioners in the FET sector. Traditionally, the FET sector has been underserved in respect of sector specific offerings, and the proposed course in partnership with City of Dublin ETB aims to address a specific need with respect to supporting practices related to diversity and inclusion. As a consequence of the partnership with the City of Dublin ETB, the programme has been designed with personnel from both the City of Dublin ETB and the School of Education, Trinity. Furthermore, relevant personnel from the City of Dublin ETB contribute to the delivery of the programme.

Modules include: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion:; Inclusive Classroom Practices through a UDL lens; and Speaking to Diversity.

For the coming academic year, applications are restricted to applicants who have been approved for sponsorship by the City of Dublin Education and Training Board, Dublin Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board and other approved Education and Training Boards.
