Executive Development - Organisational Change & Transformation

The pressure for change in organisations increases daily. In the private sector, competitive challenges, technological change, enhanced customer expectations and financial pressures combine to put a premium on firms' abilities to learn and adapt. In the public sector, similar challenges coupled with ambiguous performance criteria place enormous pressure on organisations to react appropriately.

Programme Benefits
Upon completion of this programme, participants will be equipped with the skills to analyse change situations, identify the range of interventions available and the skills to implement these interventions.

Specifically participants will gain:

An understanding of the psychology behind change and the challenges of managing cultural change;

An understanding of the frameworks surrounding organisational renewal and transformation with a view to exploiting change opportunities within their organisations;

Strategic insight into the characteristics of designing and implementing effective change in their organisation;

Deeper insight into interventions to enhance leadership and managerial impact.

Successful participants will be awarded a Professional Diploma in Organisational Change and Transformation. This qualification is accredited and awarded by University College Dublin and valued at 30 credits. It is positioned at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications. This diploma forms part of the MSc in Business (Leadership and Management Practice) Pathway.

Please note - 100% attendance is required at all modules. Should you miss a module due to unexpected circumstances, there is no longer an option to take that module with another intake of the programme. Timing: Fridays 9.00am to 5.00pm and Saturdays 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Entry requirements

Participants should have at least 5 years management experience and hold a primary degree or equivalent professional qualification. Consideration will also be given to applicants who do not hold a primary degree but whose depth of industry/organisational experience, deems them suitable participants.

Application Procedure
A completed application form, digital photograph and copy of transcripts for all university-level degrees (if applicable and excluding those taken at UCD) will be required. A telephone or personal interview with the Programme Director may form part of the admission process. The interview helps determine whether the programme is the most appropriate educational solution for the applicant.

In-person programme - This Autumn 2022, our suite of Professional Diplomas will be delivered in-person at Smurfit Executive Development on UCD's Smurfit School Blackrock campus to facilitate the best learning experience for participants. Participants are required to attend in person. In exceptional circumstances, we may be able to facilitate an alternative delivery option but each request will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by our Programme Director & Programme Management Team

Assessments and Workload
This programme involves no examinations – instead the emphasis throughout is on the practical application of knowledge to benefit you and your organisation. Assessment workload is spread across the duration of the programme to allow you to combine learning with work and life demands. In order to accelerate learning, between modules participants are expected to complete assigned reading from texts, cases and articles.

All continuous assessment is completed by participants either individually or in groups and this is set out in the study guide for each module. Some modules require pre-coursework in addition to the post-coursework which is set for each taught modules.

2018 Tuition Fees
The fee for the 2017 intake of €7,750 or €7,363* (*UCD Business Alumni discount) is a comprehensive cost that includes your tuition, all course-related materials, lunches and refreshments while on campus, access to the UCD Libraries etc. There are no additional overheads to be incurred.

*Important Notice: All open enrolment part-time diploma programme fees will increase by 2.5% from September 2019

In line with University Finance Guidelines, fees will increase by 2.5% from September 2019. This fee increase will apply to the Diploma in Organisational Change and Transformation. A 5% discount on tuition fees is available to UCD Business Alumni.

Pathway to a Master's Degree
This standalone diploma also forms part of the optional MSc in Business (Leadership & Management Practice) Pathway. The pathway framework is comprised of ten diploma programmes. If participants successfully complete any three of these ten diplomas within a recommended 5-year timeframe, they are awarded with the MSc in Business (Leadership & Management Practice)

The majority of our diploma programmes are delivered over a series of 6 two-day workshops within a 10-12 month period. Workshops are typically held on Fridays and Saturdays to minimise interference with busy work schedules. The majority of our diploma programmes are assessed on a module by module basis through a variety of practical assignments, there are no examinations (excluding the Diploma in Corporate Governance).
