Home Economics - Education
Programme Description:
The Master of Education (Home Economics) Degree is an interdisciplinary postgraduate programme which aims to enhance teaching, learning and research in Home Economics / Home Economics education. The M.Ed. (Home Economics) will facilitate participants to understand and critically evaluate contemporary educational policy and practices in Home Economics / Home Economics education and apply relevant knowledge, theory and research findings in order to inform and enhance their professional practice.

Programme Content and Structure:
The programme is delivered fully online with a combination of live and pre-recorded lectures specifically designed to accommodate the requirements of Home Economics teachers.
Year 1: 45 ECTs (may be subject to change)
Module 1: Professional Inquiry in Home Economics / Home Economics Education (15 ECTs)
Module 2: Participants select one module from the following options (availability subject to numbers):
• Nutrition, Diet & Health (15 ECTs) or
• Family, Youth and Child Studies (15 ECTs) or
• Applied Studies in Fashion and Textile Craft Education (15 ECTs)
Module 3: Research Methods (15 ECTs)
Year 2: 45 ECTs
Module 1: Advanced Research (15 ECTs)
Module 2: Dissertation Module (30 ECTs)
Entry requirements
A Bachelor of Education (Home Economics) Degree or an equivalent qualification in Home Economics at a minimum of H2.2.
