Course Overview

This flexible Master’s in Inclusive Education and Special Education Needs (SEN) empowers you to balance full-time work with advanced study. This programme offers a comprehensive exploration of inclusive education and SEN, enabling you to critically evaluate and enhance your professional practice. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by children and families with additional needs and learn to implement evidence-based strategies for inclusion. By reflecting on your own practice, you’ll be well-prepared to take on leadership roles and drive positive change in educational and care settings.



You will explore key concepts such as the Capability Approach and social justice, examining how policies and practices impact individuals with disabilities. The course also delves into leadership, curriculum design, and child development, equipping you to foster equality, diversity, and inclusion in your professional environment. This exposure to innovative ideas and strategies will empower you to advocate for inclusive practices across various contexts.



Award

Upon successful completion of this programme, you will be awarded an MA in Inclusive Education and SEN. This is awarded by University of Essex and is aligned with a level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications.

Application Process

1. Entry to this Master's is by direct application to Portobello Institute.

2. There are entry criteria available to students with differing qualifications however students must hold a relevant honours degree (at least 2:2) and it is preferable you work in a SEN role.
