Nursing - Public Health Nursing

This programme is for applicants who hold a UCD Graduate Diploma Nursing (Public Health Nursing) Level 9. Applicants must be employed as Public Health Nurses at time of application and for the duration of the programme.



You will sharpen your analytical and critical thinking and develop knowledge and skills that will help you assume a leadership role in clinical care. Healthcare professionals require knowledge and skill in evidence synthesis and translating evidence into practice. This programme aims to support students to develop these competencies leading to enhanced EBP in their professional practice, leading to better quality, safe and individualised patient care.



What Will I Learn?

Students enrolled on the programme complete a 30 ETS module, NMHS 44020 Evidence Synthesis and Translation, over two Trimesters (September to May). Students work under the guidance of an allocated supervisor to write a thesis on a topic of their interest. The thesis will present a synthesis of existing evidence or an initiative to translate evidence into practice.

Entry requirements

• Applicants must be employed as Public Health Nurses in clinical practice or in a management role while undertaking the programme.



• The programme is open to graduates who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Nursing (Public Health) in UCD in the last 5 years. The programme is also open to graduates who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Nursing (Public Health) in UCD who have completed a level 9 10 ECTS credit research module within the last 5 years.​
