Trinity College Dublin
Sustainable Development for Business
This course is in line with core market shifts and developments in the area of sustainable business, environmental and other sustainable regulation, and the opportunities for driving competitive advantage through a sustainable business model. Companies are under increasing pressure to focus on their environmental and societal impacts, rather than focus solely on profit, and to implement strategies to impact positively on the environment and wider society. In many cases, this shift of focus can also align businesses closer to customer demand and market trends but is also being driven by internal employee demands, investor demands and emerging regulatory requirements. As such, this course is designed to tackle the increasing need for sustainable strategy in business – by giving participants the tools to create long-lasting change throughout their organisations.
A key feature of the programme is a 10 ECTS into action learning module where participants design a sustainability project for their employer organisation, their business or for a project partner organisation where a "blueprint" for implementation is researched and developed.
The programme consists of four taught modules and one selfled project:
i) 5 ECTS – The Sustainable Green Organisation
ii)5 ECTS – Rewiring Your Business Approach
iii) 5 ECTS – A Practical Toolkit for Sustainable Business
iv) 5 ECTS – PurposeDriven Systemic Change
v) 10 ECTS – Sustainability in Action Project
