My English Sister is an English language learning and childcare agency based in Lyon. Our mission is to support the English language development of French children through fun, personalized and creative lessons and activities.
We are seeking a detail oriented legal & Compliance Assistant for a 4–6 month internship. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates in Business Administration, Management Law or related fields who are interested in compliance, contract management, risk prevention, administrative processes, international environments and early-stage company operations.
If you dream of starting your own company one day, this internship will give you behind-the-scenes access to the inner workings of business, from legal obligations and recruitment processes to client contracts and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with our team to ensure the quality, safety and legal reliability of our recruitment and client processes.
Role Overview
The internship includes a mixture of compliance responsibilities and weekly teaching work:
50% Legal & Compliance Tasks 50% Teaching English and working with children
This hybrid role allows you to develop both legal-administrative skills and practical teaching experience.
Key task & responsibilities

Review Onboarding Tasks

Verify that all new teacher onboarding steps are complete

Ensure documentation is accurate and compliant with company procedures
-
Identify missing or incomplete files and follow up as needed
2. Perform Candidate Vetting
-
Support background checks, reference collection and document verification
-
Ensure candidates meet safety, legal and quality standards
-
Help maintain up-to-date and compliant recruitment files
3. Provide Contract Support
-
Assist in preparing and proofreading employment contracts, client agreements and partnership documents
-
Ensure contract accuracy, clarity and consistency with internal policies
-
Help manage confidentiality agreements and compliance forms
4. Ensure Legal Compliance
-
Help monitor adherence to French childcare regulations and internal protocols
-
Support risk assessment processes for new hires and client families
-
Assist in maintaining GDPR compliance in candidate and client databases
5. Assist With Client Processes
-
Help prepare client files, safety documents and standardized procedures
-
Ensure consistency and compliance in family onboarding
-
Support the customer-facing team by checking documentation and process reliability
6. Teaching & Childcare Responsibilities
In addition to business tasks, interns spend time working with children each week:

Teaching and childcare sessions (14 hours/week)

Legal, compliance and administrative tasks (16 hours/week)
Candidate requirements

Native English speaker (or C2 level)
-
French level minimum B1
-
At least 6 months experience working with children

Strong attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality

Organized, autonomous, reliable and proactive

Interest in compliance, law, contracts or risk prevention
