Civil CAD/Civil 3D Technician – Renewable Energy Development
3 days per week (12-month contract role)
Role Context:
This role involves preparing preliminary CAD, Civil 3D and layout outputs to support early-stage project development. The work will inform internal option selection, feasibility reviews, landowner discussions and consultant briefing. Where outputs progress beyond early-stage development, they will be reviewed and developed further by the wider project team or appointed consultants.
Responsibilities:

Prepare preliminary layouts of potential Wind Farm, Solar and BESS developments.

Prepare feasibility-level layouts for entrances, internal roads and other site infrastructure.
-
Produce land ownership drawings to support the work of land agents and project managers.
-
Other layout work may include the following: solar PV layouts, substation compound layouts, plant layouts, access road alignments, grading options, hardstands, cable route corridors and indicative drainage constraints.

Import DTM/topographical data and carry out preliminary earthworks modelling, including indicative cut/fill volume estimates.
-
Carry out preliminary swept path analysis for turbine or solar deliveries using Vehicle Tracking or AutoTURN. Liaise with transport experts - third party consultants.

Maintain good CAD standards, drawing accuracy, file organization.

Clearly record drawing assumptions, constraints, limitations and items requiring review by consultants or project team.

Adhere to current professional and industrial best practices.

Support and provide data to third party consultants.

Will be required to carry out occasional site visits. May also be required to survey transport route pinch points.
Requirements:
-
Minimum 2-3 years Civil CAD design experience e.g. road, drainage, site layout design.
-
Software experience in the following: Civil 3D and Vehicle Tracking/ AutoTURN.
-
Familiarity with Tailte Éireann licensing requirements.
-
Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
-
Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently with limited day-to-day technical supervision.
-
Good communicator and able to work effectively within a wider project team.
-
Ability to collaborate with suppliers, consultants, stakeholders and co-workers
-
Strong attention to detail.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
-
Full clean driving license and access to a vehicle.
Desired but not essential:
-
Previous experience working on renewable energy developments.
-
GIS experience using ArcGIS or QGIS.
-
Autodesk Civil 3D certification, or equivalent demonstrable Civil 3D experience.
Education:
-
Minimum Higher Certificate, HNC/HND, NFQ Level 6 or equivalent in Civil Engineering, CAD, Construction, Surveying or a related discipline.
Location:
-
The role will be primarily remote, with attendance at the Dublin office generally required for monthly team meetings.
-
Occasional site visits may also be required.
Renumeration:

Competitive day rate, subject to experience and contract terms.
