Graduate Engineer (Energy & Renewables) — Fort Energy

24‑month contract | Full-time or part-time (2–3
days/week) | Remote or Hybrid (Galway)

Help Irish organisations cut energy costs and carbon —
using real data, real sites, and real projects.

Founded in 2021, Fort Energy is a specialist energy advisor
and renewable energy developer supporting commercial and government sectors
across Ireland. We deliver independent energy analysis, audits and actionable
decarbonisation plans — and we also develop and support delivery of on‑site
renewable assets such as solar PV, battery energy storage and EV charging.

Our EnergyX platform helps organisations monitor
energy consumption, identify inefficiencies and make data‑driven decisions to
reduce energy costs.

Why this role is a great start

This is a chance to join a progressive, fast‑moving green
energy business where you will build cross‑functional engineering skills
quickly: data analysis, site auditing, modelling & sizing, client
interaction, and technical reporting — with support, mentoring and real
responsibility from day one.

The initial contract is 24 months with potential to
extend based on performance. Part‑time and full‑time applicants will be
considered.

What you’ll do (day‑to‑day)

You’ll work across Fort Energy’s audit and renewables
pipeline, supporting delivery for SME, commercial and public sector clients:

  • Analyse
energy data (utility, interval, metering/logging outputs) and create
    clear insights.
  • Support
    site energy audits (buildings/services/process), including
preparation, on‑site support and follow‑up actions.
  • Run engineering
calculations and software simulations to size energy systems (e.g.,
solar PV, EV charging, storage, heat/electrical measures).
  • Help
produce professional client deliverables: audit reports,
decarbonisation actions, savings estimates, schedules and supporting
    documentation.
  • Liaise
with clients, contractors and team members to support project
    delivery, schedules and deadlines.
  • Maintain
high standards of quality, organisation and health & safety
    awareness in all tasks.

What you’ll learn (career accelerators)

This is what makes the role particularly attractive for
strong graduates:

  • Practical
energy auditing workflow (data → site → opportunity identification →
    report).
  • Techno‑economic
thinking: sizing, feasibility, costs, savings, and practical
    recommendations.
  • Exposure
to renewables project delivery (PV/EV/storage) and the documentation that
    goes with it.
  • Working
with an energy management platform (EnergyX) and turning data into
    decisions.

What we’re looking for (must‑have)

  • Degree/diploma
in Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical / Energy / Environmental
    Engineering (or related).
  • Strong
analytical ability (Excel confidence) and the ability to summarise complex
    info clearly.
  • Clear
communicator with strong organisation and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable
learning new tools quickly (modelling / simulation / CAD).
  • Fluent
English, full clean driving licence, and permission to work
    in Ireland.

Nice‑to‑have (not required)

  • Any
exposure to energy auditing, BER/retrofit, renewables design, or
    site/contractor coordination.
  • Familiarity
with energy or building services systems (HVAC, lighting, controls,
    compressed air, etc.).

How we work

  • The
role can be hybrid (office + home) depending on your location and
    project needs.
  • You
should expect site visits as part of audit/project delivery.
