Summary

Art in Tanzania promotes sustainable solutions for local communities. We educate individuals about household solar options, composting, climate change, and environmental risks.

Details

Art in Tanzania has been thriving since 1996. Our community placements attract around 250 participants annually. Our vision is to offer students hands-on experience in developing African communities.

Alongside your studies, you will have an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse yourself in African culture and life, its stunning natural beauty, and its diverse wildlife.

Our Environmental Advocacy program promotes a range of environmental advocacy and development activities.

Tanzanian communities need greater economic resources to adopt environmentally friendly household solutions.

Currently, less than 50% of households have access to toilets. Interns are developing sustainable, affordable solutions, such as dry toilets and bio-filter septic tanks.

We promote household solutions, including water purification, composting, sourcing sustainable cooking fuel, and establishing tree and bamboo nurseries.

In Tanzania, it is crucial to educate communities about the impacts of climate change and disaster risks, and to help them mitigate them.

Sustainable wildlife safaris and other tourism operations are essential sources of funding for NGOs.

Academic-level team leaders supervise your daily work. We also monitor your progress through a weekly planning and reporting system to support your success in your placement work.

The internship's outcome is learning how to apply one's education in developing countries with limited resources and experience.

Moreover, interns work in teams with international students and volunteers to gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities in a rapidly growing economy.

Work hours vary from 6 to 8 hours daily, Monday through Friday.

The program is ongoing, meaning the start dates are flexible. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests, enhancing our daily work with the communities.

Daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility efforts.

The start and end dates are flexible because all programs are ongoing, with many in operation since 1996.

You and your friends can enjoy affordable, eco-friendly safaris and tours.

We typically host between 15 and 40 students from around the world, representing over 400 universities with which we collaborate and a diverse range of professions and backgrounds.

Note that Erasmus+ funding can be applied for the training in Tanzania. You can ask your student office about the grant options.
