ESC paid Internship YMCA 2026/2027
YMCA Ireland are currently recruiting a full-time intern Youth and Children’s Work Assistant to join our family support team in Cork. The position is funded by Leargas, under the European Solidarity Corps programme. To be eligible, the applicant needs to be between the ages of 18-30. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for further employment in this field.
Volunteer Job Title: Youth and Children’s Work Assistant
Locations: Ballincollig, Blarney and Cobh
Hours: This is a full-time post of up to 35 hours per week from September 7th, 2026 to July 31st 2027. Hours of work will include daytime and evening hours, Monday-Friday. Occasionally weekend work will be required for family events. The intern will be eligible to take 20 days of annual leave in agreement with their supervisor. These are usually taken during school term holidays.
Remuneration: This is a voluntary position funded by the European Solidarity Corps. The intern will receive a monthly allowance of approximately €1400.00 towards their accommodation and living costs. It is possible to receive assistance from us with securing accommodation if needed. All work related travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Training and support: The intern will receive induction training for their position from the YMCA. They will also receive two residential/online trainings from Leargas to support their learning experience. These trainings typically take place in Dublin and include volunteers from around Europe. All expenses for the training are covered. The volunteer will receive regular support and supervision sessions with their supervisor and will also be appointed a mentor.
Internship overview:
This post involves supporting the planning and delivery of the PAKT (Parents and Kids Together) project in Ballincollig, Blarney and Cobh, Co. Cork. Interns will be responsible for travelling to each centre with all related travel costs covered by the YMCA. The volunteer will gain a diverse experience of working with children and young people individually and in groups across a range of YMCA Family Support Projects.
