Event Management Program — Art in Tanzania

Events connect people. The right events change minds.

From online career fairs reaching students at universities across Europe and beyond, to on-the-ground advocacy events in Tanzanian communities — this programme puts you at the centre of Art in Tanzania's external presence and partnership work.

If you want to plan, produce, and deliver events that actually matter, this is where you do it.

About the Program

Since 1996, Art in Tanzania has placed approximately 250 participants annually in hands-on community programmes across Tanzania. Our Event Management Program is one of our most outward-facing placements — connecting our work to international university partners, Tanzanian institutions, and the communities we serve, through purposeful, well-executed events.

You will operate at the intersection of digital communications, community advocacy, and organisational development — gaining experience that translates directly into a career in event management, communications, marketing, or international development.

What You'll Do

🌐 Online Info Sessions & University Outreach Plan: Facilitate online information sessions for students at our 1,000+ partner universities worldwide. You will coordinate with overseas career offices, develop event content, and help present Art in Tanzania's programmes at virtual career days — reaching prospective participants directly at their institutions.

📊 Content & Presentation Development: Create compelling information materials and PowerPoint presentations for internal and external events. You will shape how Art in Tanzania communicates its mission, programmes, and impact to diverse audiences.

🤖 AI-Powered Presentation & Content Production Tanzania is at an exciting early stage of AI adoption, and Art in Tanzania is leaning in. You will help empower the NGO team to integrate AI tools into their content and presentation workflows — building local capacity that has a lasting impact long after your placement ends.

🤝 Community Events & Advocacy Organise targeted in-person events with Art in Tanzania's Tanzanian partners, focusing on relationship-building and community advocacy across key themes, including public health and human rights. These events are practical, collaborative, and rooted in the communities where the work happens.

📱 Digital Marketing & Visibility Support Art in Tanzania's digital presence as an event marketing and outreach tool — creating content that informs, engages, and grows our audience. Our Facebook pages reach over 50,000 followers, giving your work immediate, real-world reach among the Tanzanian public and international community.

🦁 Safari & Tour Operations Contribute to the management of Art in Tanzania's safari and tour operations — a key revenue stream that funds our community programmes and an area where event coordination and logistics skills are directly applied.

The Learning Outcome

You will leave this programme with hands-on experience managing events in a resource-constrained, cross-cultural environment — the kind of experience that develops adaptability, creativity, and professional maturity in ways that conventional internships rarely can.

You will also gain a first-hand understanding of what it means to operate and build an organisation in one of Africa's fastest-growing economies — a perspective that is genuinely difficult to acquire anywhere else.

How It Works

Hours: 6–8 hours per day, Monday to Friday Start date: Flexible — the programme runs continuously year-round Duration: Adjustable to your academic schedule and goals Group size: 15–40 international students at any time, drawn from 1,000+ partner universities worldwide
