Front of House Officer
Applications are invited for a permanent, full-time Front of House officer working under the supervision of the Events Coordinator and the senior diplomatic team (contrat à durée indéterminée - CDI), based at the Embassy of Ireland, Paris. The expected start date is October 2026.This role includes early morning, evening, and occasional weekend work. A French social security number will be required.
Main duties and responsibilities:
-Responsible for all Front of House responsibilities, ensuring that the public space of the Embassy is always ready to receive visitors.
-Provide high-level professional hospitality services for all events at the embassy including tea and coffee service;
-Ensure correct and timely event preparation, including room set-up and clear-up;
-Engage and direct external service providers, including external wait staff;
-Responsible for event related stock inventory and ensuring event stocks are maintained;
-Laundering of reception linen (cleaning and ironing)
-Other light house-keeping duties, including ensuring all public spaces in the Embassy are clean, presentable, organise flower arrangements as needed;
-Ensure that furniture, curtains and other items in representational areas are in order;
-Purchase of food and beverage supplies;
-Administrative follow up with accounts manager for purchases;
-Any other duties as required.
The nature of the work may evolve over time to include other tasks related to event organisation and hosting.
Qualifications/experience/competencies required:
A: Essential
-A minimum of one-year hospitality experience;
-Native level French or English and excellent ability to communicate in the other language;
-Excellent organisational skills, imagination and initiative;
-Excellent interpersonal skills; good personal presentation;
-Ability to follow instructions and implement routines as directed;
-Attention to detail and demonstrates initiative and willingness to share ideas;
-Availability to work in the early morning, evening and occasional weekends;
-The right to live and work in France and a French social security number (The process with the French Social Security authorities must be initiated within the first two weeks of employment)
B: Desirable
-A hospitality or related qualification;
-Knowledge of excel, word and outlook;
-Calendar and contacts management;
-Knowledge of Ireland, and some command of the Irish language;
-Experience working in an international office environment.
