Building Envelopes and Facades
Europe Region
You see the world through a unique lens and that’s exactly what we need. We embrace how you see things differently – it’s essential for creating a sustainable future.
Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Globally, each year we recruit hundreds of graduates and students who help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.
The Opportunity
Are you passionate about innovative building design, sustainability, and the intersection of architecture and engineering? Join Arup's Early Careers Programme as a Graduate Façade Engineer and help create high-performing building envelopes that are visually inspiring, technically excellent, and environmentally responsible.
As a Graduate Façade Engineer, you will work with architects, engineers, and specialist consultants to develop façade solutions that balance aesthetics, performance, and sustainability. You'll contribute to projects from concept through construction, gaining experience in façade design, performance analysis, digital innovation, and site delivery.
What you'll do but not limited to:
- Support the design and development of façade systems that meet architectural and performance requirements.
- Carry out engineering calculations and technical documentation for façade designs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders on façade-related solutions.
- Research façade materials, performance, quality, maintenance, cost, and carbon impacts.
- Develop and apply digital tools to improve design efficiency and sustainability outcomes.
- Review technical submissions and undertake site inspections during construction.
Is this role right for you?
For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
- A Bachelor's degree (Level 8 or above), or studying towards a Master's degree in the following disciplines:
- Architecture
- Architectural Technology
- Structural Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Façade Engineering (M.Sc.)
- Product Design or similar
We'd also like to see
- Strong sketching and visual communication skills.
- Experience using software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and engineering design tools.
- An interest in sustainable building design and low-carbon solutions.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- A curiosity for innovation and digital design technologies.
While this is primarily a technical role, the academic background does not necessarily have to be strictly based on construction and candidates from product or other design based undergraduate courses may also be suitable.
Where talented candidates are identified, they will be given the opportunity to kickstart their career with our structured graduate development program, benefit from continuous learning opportunities, and receive guidance from experienced mentors.
To be considered for a graduate opportunity, your application must include a copy of your academic transcript and meet the following criteria:
- No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role.
- Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
Closing Date
