Role Overview

BnM is seeking a Graduate Grid Engineer to support the Grid Team and the wider business in the planning, design, procurement, construction and commissioning of electrical infrastructure for BnM projects. Working closely with the Senior Grid Engineer and multidisciplinary project teams, you will contribute to the specification, design review, performance testing and delivery of grid-connected assets, gaining experience across a range of renewable energy and infrastructure projects.

The role also offers the chance to develop a comprehensive understanding of the Irish electrical grid, power systems and the regulatory environment. Through practical project involvement and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, you will build the technical knowledge and experience needed to support the delivery, optimisation and long-term performance of grid-connected projects while contributing to the growth of BnM’s renewable energy portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply functional knowledge of electrical engineering practices, principles, theories and concepts.
  • Support the development and delivery of project electrical engineering works and services.
  • Attend and participate in team, site and design meetings to support delivery on time, within budget and in compliance with statutory Health and Safety requirements, providing oversight of construction activities and preparing reports for the management team.
  • Support engineering and optioneering assessments for potential grid connection solutions for renewable energy projects.
  • Prepare preliminary design drawings and technical reports, progressing to detailed design solutions.
  • Support the coordination of grid code testing and the preparation of reports in line with system operator standards, and review or prepare technical project, tender and contract documentation.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on design, manufacture, processing, construction, operation and maintenance to support delivery of BnM project requirements.
  • Support the development of in-house designs and tools, and build knowledge of grid-related regulations and policies, assessing and communicating their impact on project delivery.
  • All employees are expected to co-operate fully with the company’s provisions for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises, and to participate proactively in the Performance Management process.

What We’re Looking For

  • Honours Degree (Level 8) in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering; a postgraduate (Level 9) qualification in a relevant engineering discipline would be an advantage
  • Full clean Irish/EU driving licence
  • Prior industry experience, such as an internship in an electrical or power systems engineering environment
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to thoroughly review technical designs and documentation
  • Experience in AutoCAD or similar technical design software would be an advantage
