Summary of the Post 

This
interdisciplinary “starter role” will suit an ambitious graduate looking to
support the operations of both Long Term Foundation and our Social Impact Hub,
where we are based. The role is hands-on in a busy office environment in
Merrion Square, with the dual responsibility of managing the Social Impact Hub
and helping our Licencees who operate in it, (including other Foundations,
Charities & Social Enterprises) and working with the Long Term Foundation team where our
other primary focus is on supporting Small-holder farmers in Uganda.

 

A core
part of the role will involve working with the Founders and the Investment
Manager at the Foundation with evaluating investment opportunities for social
and financial impact

 

·       Researching countries in East Africa,
specifically agricultural supply chains, small-holder farmer    experiences, and access to credit/finance
for small and medium sized enterprises.

·       Conducting initial due diligence
of companies seeking funds;

·       Assess their impact on small holder farmer livelihoods

·       Participate
in discussions about Long Term Foundation’s development and strategy;

·       Develop
a framework to track the impact of Long Term Foundation clients and work
towards producing   an impact report.

·       Assisting with reports or preparation of minutes from
meetings.

·       Planning and participation in meetings with other
foundations, networks and companies seeking funding

·       Management
of the Foundation’s client system

·       Assistance
with travel planning and travel itineraries (flights, accommodation, visa’s
etc)

 

The Social Impact Hub side of the role will
involve:

·       engaging
with our licencees in the building who comprise of Social Enterprises and
socially focussed charities and Non-Profits, facilitating meetings, managing
the front desk in the mornings when the Hub is busy,

·       engaging
with suppliers (office and kitchen equipment, maintenance, utilities)

·       assisting
in the co-ordination of events on site & overseeing building maintenance

 

 

The
Qualifications / Attributes required:

·       Familiarity
or an interest in development finance or global development

·       An
interest in learning about small-holder farming, the supply chain from
small-holders to international buyers, East-African economies, and achieving
sustainable livelihood improvements in rural communities through agri-finance.

·       A
friendly approach with strong client-facing, interpersonal skills.

·       Excellent
communication skills, both written and verbal.

·       An
organised and enthusiastic approach to work.

·       Be
able to multi-task while maintaining strong attention to detail.

·       Proven
ability to manage tasks / projects and work in a team environment.

·       Team
player with strong people skills

·       Proficient
with Microsoft Office suite.

·       Flexibility
with respect to tasks assigned
