Daly Accountants & Advisory Services is seeking a motivated Graduate / Trainee Accountant to join its growing team in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin. This full-time opportunity is suitable for final-year Accounting & Finance or Business students, as well as recent graduates who are interested in beginning their career in accountancy practice.

Daly Accountants & Advisory Services is a full-service accounting and advisory firm based in Balbriggan, serving SMEs, sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and specialist sectors across Ireland. Formerly known as Dempsey Mullen Accountants, the firm combines over 60 years of accounting heritage with a modern and forward-looking approach. It is now entering a new phase of growth, with a strong focus on cloud accounting, automation, AI-enabled workflows and proactive client advisory.

The firm provides a broad range of services, including bookkeeping, VAT preparation, accounts preparation, payroll, personal and corporation tax, company secretarial services, business advisory, management reporting, start-up support and specialist support for clients in the haulage sector. Daly Accountants & Advisory Services is also recognised for its relationship with the Irish Road Haulage Association, which supports its position as a trusted advisor to haulage operators.

The successful candidate will gain practical, hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting, taxation, payroll and advisory services. Working closely with partners, senior accountants and the wider team, the trainee will be exposed to real client work from an early stage. This role is designed to help the candidate build a strong technical foundation, develop professionally and grow within an ambitious and supportive firm.

Key responsibilities will include assisting with bookkeeping and VAT returns, preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, supporting payroll processing, preparing working papers, maintaining accurate client records, assisting with personal tax and corporation tax compliance, and helping with company secretarial and CRO-related administration. The role will also involve client onboarding, document management, preparing reports, assisting with management accounts where required, and communicating professionally with clients and colleagues.

The trainee will gain experience using modern accounting and practice management systems, including QuickBooks, Sage, AutoEntry, Bright Manager, CCH and TaxPro. The firm places a strong emphasis on technology and digital workflows, making this a valuable opportunity for candidates interested in the future of the accounting profession.

Daly Accountants & Advisory Services is looking for candidates who are completing, or have recently completed, a degree in Accounting & Finance, Business or a related discipline. The ideal candidate will be interested in pursuing a professional accounting qualification and will be accurate, organised, reliable and eager to learn. Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, comfort working with numbers and deadlines, and a client-focused attitude are important.

Previous experience in an accountancy practice is welcome but not essential. The firm places significant value on a positive attitude, willingness to learn and strong work ethic. The successful candidate should be comfortable working as part of a team and interested in developing across multiple areas of accountancy practice rather than being limited to one narrow function.

Daly Accountants & Advisory Services offers practical training across accounts, VAT, tax, payroll and advisory, along with exposure to a wide range of clients and industries. The successful candidate will receive mentoring from experienced accountants and partners, gain experience with modern accounting software, and work in a supportive team environment. The role offers opportunities for professional development and career progression within a firm that is investing in technology, AI and improved client service.

The firm’s culture is professional, approachable and client-focused. It values professionalism, accessibility, excellence in service, integrity, trust, equality of treatment, continuous improvement, proactive support and confidentiality. The team is committed to building long-term client relationships while delivering accurate, timely and practical advice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a final-year student or recent graduate who wants to start their accountancy career in a supportive, ambitious and technology-focused practice. Applications should include a CV and a short cover note outlining the candidate’s interest in accountancy practice, reasons for applying to Daly Accountants & Advisory Services, and any relevant academic, work or placement experience.
