Intern – Sports Rehabilitation & Athletic Therapy
Job Description
This internship provides an opportunity for a Sport Rehab graduate to gain valuable experience bridging the gap between study and work. They will be in a position to develop their skills and knowledge base in a workplace setting under the full support and guidance of a mentor. In addition, the intern will be able to apply their knowledge in a real work environment, gain networking opportunities and build their confidence, thus enhancing their career prospects.
Principal Supervised Duties and Responsibilities
- Prescription of rehabilitation programmes, home exercise programmes and injury prevention programmes
- Co-ordinate supervised prehabilitation/rehabilitation facilities
- Communication with the Institute nurse and doctor for referral of patients for x-rays, MRI, surgery etc.
- Liaise with Sport Science intern regarding the implementation of the Institute Progressive Rehabilitation Performance (PRP) programme
- Clinic Administration: using the intranet booking system, managing overflow, dealing with clinic accounts, stock management, and preparation of clinic space before and tidying it after clinic
- Patient Caseload: it is envisaged that the intern will have his/her own patients for assessment, treatment and rehab. They will mostly come from clinic overflow, or from the sports team to which they are assigned
- Team Training & Match Cover: The intern will be assigned to a sports team of the college. He/she will have duties of care for team events, preparation of athletes and management of injuries in consultation with team directors
- Undertake other duties as required by the Head of Department or other designated officer of SETU
