Surveyor
This is an excellent opportunity for a
graduate or developing Quantity Surveyor to gain hands-on experience across the
full commercial lifecycle of construction projects while progressing their
career within KM Lynskey.
The position will be based on our Head
Office in Ballycoolin, with travel to projects as required.
Responsibilities
·
Assist Quantity Surveyors and
Senior Quantity Surveyors with the commercial management of projects.
·
Assist in preparing monthly
valuations and applications for payment.
·
Assist with project cost
reporting, budget tracking and cost reconciliation.
·
Carry out measurements and
quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.
·
Assist in preparing
subcontractor and supplier tender packages.
·
Issue enquiries and obtain
quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
·
Prepare quotation comparisons
and assist with tender analysis.
·
Assist with subcontractor
procurement and appointment processes.
·
Review and assist in assessing
subcontractor payment applications.
·
Assist with identifying,
recording and valuing project variations.
·
Maintain accurate records of
project changes, instructions and commercial correspondence.
·
Assist in preparing and
agreeing subcontractor final accounts.
·
Support the preparation of
client final accounts under the guidance of senior commercial staff.
·
Review drawings, specifications
and other contract documentation.
·
Maintain organised commercial
and project documentation within company systems.
·
Liaise with project teams,
subcontractors and suppliers to obtain commercial information.
·
Attend site and commercial
meetings where appropriate.
·
Assist with tendering and
estimating activities between project requirements.
·
Support monthly commercial
reporting and project reviews.
·
Ensure commercial records are
maintained in accordance with company procedures and ISO/QA standards.
·
Undertake training and
professional development to build knowledge of quantity surveying, construction
contracts and commercial management.
Skills
/ Experience Required
·
Degree or relevant
qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related
discipline, or currently completing an appropriate qualification.
·
Graduate candidates and
candidates with approximately 1–3 years’ relevant experience are encouraged to
apply.
·
Previous construction
experience is beneficial but not essential for the right candidate.
·
Good numerical and analytical
skills.
·
Good understanding of Microsoft
Excel and Word.
·
Ability to read and interpret
construction drawings would be beneficial.
·
Strong attention to detail and
accuracy.
·
Good organisational and
time-management skills.
·
Strong written and verbal
communication skills.
·
Willingness to learn and take
on increasing levels of responsibility.
·
Ability to work effectively as
part of a project and commercial team.
·
Professional and confident
attitude when communicating with colleagues, subcontractors and suppliers.
