In Ireland, Abbott has been operating since 1946. Abbott employs over 5,500 people across ten sites. We have six manufacturing facilities located in Clonmel, Cootehill, Donegal, Longford and Sligo. Abbott has commercial support, operations and financial support services in Dublin and Galway.

Abbott Ireland’s GradIreland Award Winning Programme is currently inviting applications from third level students for our 2023 Professional Development Graduate Programme (PDP).

The Abbott Professional Development Programme (PDP) offers graduates an opportunity to apply their skills in different areas and divisions at our sites across Ireland and abroad over a three-year period.

  • Accelerated, preparing you to make significant and valued contributions much earlier than you might expect.

During this time graduates, will rotate through three diverse and challenging assignments over a three-year period, while getting the opportunity to work at our different locations and different functions in Ireland and abroad. The objective of each assignment is to develop a well-rounded skillset.

From this experience, you will develop a deep understanding of our company as well as develop your management, technical and interpersonal skills. You will also have an opportunity to experience an international assignment as part of the program.

In addition to your development being supported by your assignment manager, you will also be paired with a mentor who will assist you in navigating your career throughout the program.

To support our diverse businesses, we are sourcing applications for our Operations Professional Development Programme from Engineering and Science disciplines.

If successful your role could involve working in a variety of Engineering or Science led areas - manufacturing, projects, quality, laboratory, scientific, technical services or research and development.

In addition to gaining experience in functional areas i.e. Business Excellence, Operations, Technical, Quality, you will also have the opportunity of developing your people management skills during the three-year period.

Skills and Experience Required

As Abbott’s Professional Development Programme is highly selective & challenging, the following criteria are applicable

  • Available to commence our Professional Development Program in July 2024
  • 2.1 Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline
  • Strong academic performance and extracurricular activity
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative and integrity
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Flexibility to change location to take up assignments at different Abbott sites including international locations
  • Interested in pursuing diverse career options at Abbott
