Opportunities for Researchers in Energy Policy & Career Development
We have introduced several important updates to broaden access to the SEAI-based programme:
- Expanded eligibility to include academic staff and more established researchers with teaching buyout as an eligible cost
- Mobility supports to enable part-time secondments, making participation more accessible for those already in academic roles throughout Ireland.
SEAI Energise Fellowship Programme 2026
Two fellowship streams are available:
Academic Fellowships
- Based in a higher education institution in Ireland
- Applicants propose their own research idea, aligned with SEAI remit

SEAI-based Fellowships
- Hosted within SEAI, with fellows are employeed by a third level institution
- Applicants can apply to one of five diverse and policy relevant topics
- Offer a unique opportunity to work directly in SEAI and a policy environment, and suited to researchers interested in exploring their career pathways into policy and the public sector

We are keen to work with Careers Offices to ensure these opportunities are effectively communicated to researchers, including those considering broader or non-academic career pathways.
