Project & Construction Management Student Placement

placements for 2027 as part of the University of Galway's Industry Work
Placement Programme.
Placements
will be based on live project sites or offices across Ireland, with students
contributing to the planning, execution,
and delivery of large-scale infrastructure works.
Placement students
will be fully embedded within
project delivery teams and involved
in the day-to-day operations of live construction sites or design
offices. Responsibilities will vary depending on discipline but may include:
For Project & Construction Management students:
- Ward
and Burke Construction Ltd is offering
placements for 2027 as part of the University of Galway's Industry Work
Placement Programme. - Supporting Project Managers,
Site Managers, and Engineers in the planning, coordination, and delivery of major civil engineering and infrastructure
works. - Assisting with the supervision and monitoring of construction activities including earthworks, concrete
works, drainage, structures, utilities, and site development works. - Supporting programme tracking, short-term planning, and monitoring progress
against key project
milestones and construction schedules. - Assisting with site inspections to ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and
health and safety standards. - Maintaining site records, plant records, drawing
registers, progress reports,
and quality documentation. - Supporting the coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, plant, materials, and site resources
to ensure efficient project
delivery. - Assisting with procurement
activities, material tracking, and the management of construction and project documentation. - Participating in site meetings, progress reviews, client
meetings, toolbox talks,
and multidisciplinary
coordination meetings. - Supporting the preparation of method statements, risk assessments, permits,
and other construction management documentation. - Monitoring compliance with project quality,
health and safety,
and environmental requirements on live construction
sites. - Assisting with the identification and management of project risks,
construction constraints, and opportunities
for programme or cost improvements. - Supporting the tracking of project deliverables through construction, commissioning, testing, and final handover.
- Gaining exposure to project
budgeting, cost control, contract administration, commercial management, and
project reporting processes. - Working closely with civil,
mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams to support the successful delivery of complex infrastructure
projects.

- Gain hands-on experience in live construction and commissioning environments.
- Develop an understanding of
project delivery from design through construction, testing, commissioning, and handover. - Build technical, project management, and problem-solving skills in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Contribute to significant infrastructure projects.
All students
will be expected to work collaboratively within diverse site teams, demonstrate initiative, and contribute to the safe and efficient
delivery of complex engineering projects.
