About the role
The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) is seeking a highly organised and motivated Awards, Competitions & Events Officer to support the delivery of its annual Architecture Awards and Medals programme, architectural design competitions and a wide range of events, including conferences, lectures, and exhibitions.
Working as part of the Architecture & Communications Team and collaborating with multiple RIAI divisions, this role provides essential support to ensure the smooth planning and delivery of high-quality awards programmes and events.
This is a full-time position based at the RIAI offices on Merrion Square, Dublin 2, with hybrid working (60% in the office) where work allows. Flexibility will be required for the delivery of awards and events, which may take place in Dublin and other locations.
Key responsibilities
Awards, Medals and Architectural Design Competitions

  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and administration of the awards and competition programmes
  • Provide administrative support for the management of submissions and entrant communications
  • Support the organisation of Jury processes, including organising meetings, materials and building visits (awards)
  • Assist with preparing awards certs and digital content for awards webpages and archive
  • Any other duties as they arise

Events

  • Assist the events team with coordinating and delivering online and in-person events across all RIAI divisions, including conferences, lectures, book launches, and education and membership events.
  • Support event promotion, listings, invitations, and attendee communications
  • Liaise with venues and suppliers as required
  • Prepare event running orders and briefs
  • Manage post-event digital assets and photography
  • Perform any other duties as they arise
  • Job Requirements

Essential skills & attributes

  • Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong administrative, organisational and communication skills
  • Proactive, solution-focused, and able to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Computer literacy (MS Office) and confidence learning new systems

Essential experience

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in administrative, events, project coordination or similar roles
  • Coordinating multiple stakeholders and logistics
  • Preparing promotional materials for events

Desirable experience

  • Experience with awards administration or entry platforms
  • Experience in events, cultural or educational organisations, professional bodies or membership organisations
  • Familiarity with a database or CMS platform
  • Basic image editing and digital asset preparation
  • Experience with Canva, Eventbrite, and digital media platforms
