We are a team of experts in the area of Educational Technology with many years of experience in designing and delivering programmes for young people which make best use of teaching and learning through technology. We are actively involved in developing and promoting the effective use of technology in the classroom both in Ireland and throughout Europe.

In our Summer programmes, we welcome students from around the world to develop their communication skills through engaging projects, activities, and excursions.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and responsible Summer Residential & Activity Leaders to join our team. This role involves creating a safe, fun, and enriching environment by supervising students in their residential accommodations, organizing cultural and recreational activities, and ensuring their well-being throughout their stay.

Your contract includes accommodation in the nearby student residence and meals when on duty for the full duration of your stay. You will contribute to a weekly Boarding & Lodging Allowance, which represents only a small fraction of the cost of providing the accommodation and ensures that our practices are aligned with standard procedures.

Position: Summer Residential staff & Activity Leader
Location: Athlone (Heather View)
Contract dates: 26th June - 18th July (3 weeks)

Schedule: 16:30 - 22:30 (Half hour break) & 07:00 - 08:30 3-5 days per week and full-day excursion on Saturday (7:00 - 18:00) OR half-day on Sunday. 30-45 hours a week. Please note these may vary.

Lodging & meals: 

Accommodation and meals are included as part of your contract:

  • Accommodation (Lodging): A semi-private or private room in shared staff housing with access to bathroom, kitchen, and communal facilities. 

  • Meals (Board): Meals provided during scheduled shifts, based on the operational meal plan. 


Salary: The net salary is €531 per week, inclusive of holiday pay, based on a 40-hour working week. Salary will be calculated on a pro rata basis for fewer or additional weekly hours. This amount includes accommodation and meals while on duty, with a weekly allowance of €80.29 already deducted from the net salary.

Key Responsibilities


In residence


  • The chosen candidate will be expected to work with their team and manager to carry out tasks related to the residential site, this will include and is not limited to setting up and preparing for new arrivals. 

  • Checking and ensuring facilities are kept to a high standard while the groups are onsite.

  • Overseeing and monitoring meal times and other areas of the students schedules.

  • The candidate will be expected to host activities to a high standard, engaging students through English.

  • The candidate will be expected to liaison with their manager on a regular basis, including updates, feedback, any issues which arise.

  • Pay close attention to safety and welfare during activities and alert the activities manager or residential manager as appropriate of any issues that arise.

  • Reporting any student behavioral issues to the Manager/Coordinator on site.

Activity leader


  • The chosen candidate will be expected to be able to work with and manage a group of up to 25 young people. 

  • The candidate must be able to hold the attention of the group, ensuring that the task for the students is clearly set out and understood by all students. 

  • The Leader must be able to converse with group leaders around anything that could concern the students welfare while participating in the activity. 

  • The Leader must adhere to schedule details, ensuring that schedule times are met efficiently and the meeting points, routes, and locations are revised in advance of the activity.

  • It is the responsibility and duty of the applicant to notify their coordinator or manager if they are unsure or need support on anything relating to the activity.

  • Document and keep reports of each activity to send to and discuss with the Coordinator as a means of continuous improvement and ensuring the self-development of the Activity Leader while in the role. 

  • Pre-checking the equipment for each activity.

  • Reporting any broken or damaged equipment to the coordinator in a timely manner.

  • Reporting any student behavioral issues to the Manager/Coordinator on site.

  • Ensuring safety talks are given and upheld when having students on campus // off campus.

  • To work with and or support third party providers where necessary. Ensuring the respect and conduct of the group is adhered to.

  • To be flexible and have a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or teenagers in a residential, educational, or camp setting.

  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students; Ability to supervise and manage groups of children safely and effectively; Problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly in emergencies or challenging situations.

  • Availability: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and possibly overnight shifts as required; Ability to live on-site during the program and participate fully in residential duties.

  • Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in Ireland (EU citizenship or valid work/residency permit)
