Summer STEAM Workshop leader
We are a team of experts in the area of Educational Technology with many years of experience in designing and delivering programmes for young people which make best use of teaching and learning through technology. We are actively involved in developing and promoting the effective use of technology in the classroom both in Ireland and throughout Europe. Our approach of Project-Based, Technology Enhanced Learning means that students work together to complete projects through English, using technology where it can help them in reaching their objective.
In this role, you will be delivering engaging and dynamic workshops to international young learner students. We need someone who has an expertise in STEAM (science, engineering, technology), and who is confident working with a group of up to 25 persons and can maintain a functioning and fully thriving environment with such.
Location: Athlone Summer Center - TUS
Contract duration: from 2 to 4 weeks in July
Learners’ Age & Levels: Ages 12–17, levels A2–B2 (Pre-Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate).
Schedule: Working hours are between 13:45 and 16:45, 3 to 5 days per week. Each 3-hour day includes 30 minutes for briefing/set-up, 1 hour of delivery, a 15-minute student break (supervision), 1 hour of delivery, and 15 minutes for tidy-up.
Salary: from 16.2 to 17.3 per hour (including holiday pay)
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize all workshop materials and learning spaces for smooth delivery.
- Deliver engaging, interactive sessions for international young learners across multiple levels.
- Lead and manage groups of up to 24 students, ensuring participation, safety, and adherence to rules.
- Encourage students to actively use English in a fun, supportive environment to boost confidence and language skills.
- Adapt activities to meet diverse learning needs and maintain high engagement.
- Provide feedback on student progress and collaborate with colleagues to share best practices.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and behavioral guidelines throughout workshops.
Examples of STEAM workshops:
- Science: making a volcano, building a lava lamp, scientific investigation, food science
- Technology: AI, Robotics
- Engineering: LED frame, building challenges
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 3 months of teaching experience with young learners or young adults in an educational context
- Skills: Tech savvy, dynamic, group management, expertise in STEAM (technology, science, engineering)
- Location: Must reliably commute to or plan to be based near location before the start date
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in Ireland (EU citizenship or valid work/residency permit)
