This position offers a fantastic opportunity to grow your professional skills and make a difference. The Support Worker will be a member of a multi-disciplined team using holistic approaches to support Depaul service users. Working within the principal of harm reduction where residents receive a high degree of care, support, and dignity, Depaul has a commitment to service user participation and to empowering residents to manage their own lives.

This role works across a 7-day week rota.

At the end of the twelve-month programme, graduates will be able to:

  • Work as a member of a multi-disciplined team in the best interests of the residents and report to team
  • Encourage and support service users to develop skills in managing their daily living
  • Attend and participate in key worker sessions with service users when required
  • Provide an end-of-year presentation on time in Services

Key Area of Responsibility

  • Encourage and support service users to develop skills in managing their daily living
  • Ensure that the service is kept to a good standard of tidiness, cleanliness, and hygiene, including communal areas, in conjunction with residents and the rest of the team
  • Encourage service users to take responsibility for maintaining their own environment
  • Observe and attend key worker sessions with service users when required
  • Assist residents with personal monies, service charge payments, etc., where necessary, in conjunction with the project team
  • Carry out project administration tasks such as upkeep of petty cash, project statistics, invoices, record-keeping, Service User's files, OTIS, IR, and AR completion
  • Ensure that Health and Safety standards are met within the project in accordance with Depaul's Health and Safety policy and the project's Safety Statement
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and staff team days
  • Participate in ongoing graduate programmes and events

Personal Experience and Requirements

  • Qualification in the Social Care field - Social Care, Psychology, Social Science, Criminology, or Community Development
  • Possess an understanding of why people become homeless and the issues they present, understanding what supports can be offered in homeless services to service users with complex support needs
  • Be a good communicator and computer literate
  • Knowledge and understanding of Depaul vision mission and values
  • Ability to work shifts
  • Relevant experience within the Community and Voluntary sector

Desirable

  • Driving Licence
