Teacher of History-Geography

Full / Part-time
We are seeking to appoint a qualified Teacher of History and Geography
at the lower and upper secondary levels (equivalent to UK KS 3, 4 & 5)
SIS Paris Ouest – International Sections has been a leader in bilingual education in the Paris area for over 65 years. Our programmes are hosted by 7 local schools and serve over 900 families from pre-school to the secondary level. A fee-paying international section embedded within the French National Education system, the Anglophone Section offers our pupils a highly challenging academic programme leading to the British option of the BFI (French Baccalauréat with an international option) and a rich co-curricular life. Our internationally-minded graduates go on to study in top-ranked universities in the UK, EU, Canada and the USA.
Our teaching team includes over 60 native-English speaking teachers, qualified to teach in their home countries. We are very proud of the diversity, talent and dedication that our teachers bring to our unique educational collaboration with the French educational system. Their teaching inspire and support our bilingual students to thrive in an intellectually-stimulating environment in and beyond the classroom
The successful candidate will:
• have valid working papers in France or have the right to work legally in the EU
• possess a good degree in History and/or Geography and a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification (recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
• have good and close knowledge of learning objectives and assessment of IGCSE and/or A-Level in History and/or Geography and/or Global Issues
• have wide-ranging subject knowledge of History and Geography to contribute to curriculum development and the teaching of contemporary global issues
• be confident with engaging bilingual pupils through innovative teaching strategies, rigorous planning and the production of schemes of work
• have proven dedication to the progress of pupils and their achievement and well-being
• have excellent collaborative skills, sense of initiative and agility, and enjoy initiating and sharing best practice with colleagues
• have proven skills of team engagement: ability to adopt and adapt to processes and actions which support the school’s strategic goals and projects
• be able to adapt to the demands of teaching and working within a bilingual educational framework and a multicultural context and communicating in French
• have interest/experience in organising educational trips, running extracurriculars such as : debate clubs, student led-projects, SDG activities, etc.
