The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage’s (DHLGH) mission is to support sustainable development and vibrant communities through strategic planning, the sustainable and efficient delivery of well-planned homes, the sustainable management of our water resources, the nurturing of Ireland’s heritage, and effective local government.

The Water Advisory Unit, part of the Department’s Water Division, consists of a multidisciplinary team of technical advisers (scientists and engineers) and policy staff, who together provide professional advice to the Department and lead on technical and scientific aspects of water resource management and water policy.

The Department is currently seeking Technical Policy Advisers Grade II - Water for the Unit. This is an exciting opportunity for talented and ambitious individuals who are looking to embrace new challenges, do purposeful work and make a real difference to the Irish State and its people.

The Technical Policy Adviser Grade II - Water will work in the area of water quality, primarily on the implementation of the Water Framework Directive and associated directives such as Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive and the Drinking Water Directive. The Technical Policy Adviser Grade II will report to a Water Adviser (Grade I) in the Water Advisory Unit.
