Transcription Reviewer (Linguistics)

20 days to apply
Apply by: 15/09/2026

We're looking for linguists to review and correct English-language transcripts for speech technology work.

You'll be given short audio segments alongside automatic (ASR) draft transcripts, and your task is to correct each draft against the audio so it captures exactly what was said, following a set of detailed annotation guidelines we provide. The work goes beyond plain transcription: disfluencies, reduced forms, mispronunciations, and non-speech sounds are all captured rather than cleaned up, so a good ear for spoken English and an interest in how speech is represented in text matter more than speed.

The work is remote and flexible (you will work through a browser-based tool), and it's a defined project paid at a flat project rate (discussed at the interview stage).

What we're looking for:

  • Native or near-native English
  • A background in linguistics (current students welcome)
  • Attention to detail and comfort following precise conventions
  • Prior transcription or annotation experience is a plus, not a requirement

How to apply:

Send a short email with a note about your background (linguistics studies, year, and any transcription or annotation experience) and your CV if you have one, with the subject line "Transcription Reviewer." Shortlisted applicants will complete a short (15–30 min) annotation exercise so we can both check the fit.
