Chartered Accountants Ireland

Chartered Accountants Ireland is the largest and longest standing professional accountancy body in Ireland. We have over 28,000 members in Ireland and abroad, and 6,500 students currently training with us. 64% of our members work in business and 26% in practice so you’ll find our members in every sector and industry.

We are a founding member of Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW), an organisation which brings together Chartered Institutes from around the globe. Our qualification is recognised internationally including the US, Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and more. CAW have over 700,000 members and over 1 million students with a presence in more than 200 countries.

We offer flexible study options, have the best pass rates (89%) and offer the fastest route to qualification – 78% of our students are fully qualified in 4 years or less!

Newly qualified Chartered Accountants earn approx. €56,477 per annum, rising to €79,946 five years post qualification, according to the Leinster Society Salary Survey 2019.

You can study to become a Chartered Accountant directly after school, after you complete a college degree in any discipline – it doesn’t have to be in accountancy or finance, or you can study with us as a mature student.

We have two routes to qualification;

  1. Training Contract: Work full time and study part-time on a 3.5-year graduate programme.
  2. Flexible Route: Allows students to stay in their current job, study on their own terms and generate the relevant work experience while they study or further down the line.

To qualify as a Chartered Accountant, you must gain relevant work experience and pass our exams. We have three sets of exams; CAP1, CAP2 and FAE.
