Arts & Humanities - Research
Research and scholarship are essential to what we do in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. It inspires and empowers our teaching, shapes our faculty identity, and grounds our ambition to becoming a leading centre of practice-based research in the arts and humanities.
As a faculty our strong tradition of creativity, industry and societal engagement, and disciplinary diversity is unique on the national stage. We believe that research across the arts, humanities, and social sciences plays a critical role in understanding the human experience, addressing societal challenges, and in developing sustainable democratic futures. These core values, allied with our belief in the value of scholarship and knowledge creation for its own sake, drive our research culture.
Research is focused through our seven research centres, the Society and Culture Hub, our academic and industry partnerships, and our membership of the European University of Technology alliance. Key research areas include inclusion and equitable societies, sustainable tourism and cultural heritage, Irish Studies, creative practice in the arts and media, and digital futures.
