Education - Teaching & Learning - Waterford

The Master of Education is for teachers, trainers, education professionals and managers from a variety of educational settings i.e., primary, post-primary, FET and Higher Education who wish to lead and champion innovation within their own educational practice and context. Participants will gain a deeper and critical understanding of contemporary developments, opportunities and challenges facing education providers, teachers and students so that they can create dynamic student-centred learning environments and enhance their students’ learning. This research- informed programme highlights best practice and emerging trends in Education and participants can apply and connect theory and policy to their own professional practice and work context.

Entry requirements

An Honours Degree (level 8) or equivalent



Access to an educational and/or training environment, where research may be carried out

Note: The MEd is not an initial teacher education programme and it does not confer qualified teaching status or professional accreditation in Ireland.

Duration

2 years - participants have up to 5 years to complete their studies.



Delivery

The Master of Education is a part-time, flexible programme, where participants may study at their own pace. Modules are delivered online or in blended mode i.e., a combination of online, face-to-face workshops, self-directed and group learning.

Progression and Career Opportunities:

On successful completion of the Master of Education, graduates may progress to Doctoral studies at SETU Waterford or another Higher Education Institution subject to meeting the specific entry criteria.



Further Study

On successful completion of the Master of Education, graduates may progress to Doctoral studies (NFQ Level 10) at SETU or another University subject to meeting the specific entry criteria.



The Master of Education will enhance participants’ professional skills, competence and capabilities as educators and facilitators of learning. MEd graduates have achieved success in their career and are working as educational leaders both nationally and internationally.
