Introduction
We are excited to announce our new MSc in Emerging Media building on over twenty years of expertise in research and teaching in the area of multimedia.

The MSc in Emerging Media:
The MSc in Emerging Media combines media production, innovative research and experimental practices to guide students in the discovery of new ways to communicate and tell stories. We provide a vibrate space for students who see the possibilities in new technologies to extend their creative voices. Through engaging with the most current research, which inspects the impact of digitisation, internet technologies, Internet of Things and social media on our culture and ways of communicating, students are equipped to navigate, analyse and contribute to our constantly evolving media-scape.

Programme
This programme is offered full-time over one year.

Students take a combination of core and option modules in areas such Responsive Media, Moving Image, Media Innovation, Sound Design and Media Animation. All students complete a Final Team Production Project.

To provide students from a range of undergraduate and skills' backgrounds with an effective learning environment with respect to digital media technologies and content creation.

To develop the core technical skills required in the application of industry-standard new media tools.

To develop the creative and technical skills in the design, editorial, authoring skills and communication competencies required for the appropriate application/use of multimedia technologies in the production of content, products and services.

Requirements

General Entry Requirements
For admission to the MSc in Emerging Media programme, successful applicants will have -

-A degree at the level of an Irish or UK Honours undergraduate degree (H2.2 or above) or equivalent.
-Applicants with appropriate combinations of professional qualifications and experience may also be considered. This includes discipline-specific knowledge and know-how; transferable skills; basic research competency; personal effectiveness.
-Applicants who have not yet completed their degree may receive a conditional offer on the basis of most recent grades and pending the achievement of no less than a H2.2 degree.
-International candidates who are non-native speakers of English must satisfy the University of their competency in the English language.

To apply for this programme:

All Applicants must apply through DCU's Student Application Portal.

Provide Academic Transcripts for each and every year of study with English translation if applicable.

Provide a written personal statement of 500-750 (maximum) outlining your:

(i) suitability for the programme;

(ii) relevant recent experiences by providing evidence of any previous media practice – e.g. YouTube/SoundCloud or links to articles online etc.

(iii) involvements in areas specific to the programme or examples of media you admire or creators who inspire you and why this motivates you to create media.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the programme is full or until the following dates:

- Closing date for non EU applicants is 1st July 2022.
- Closing date for EU applicants is 31st July 2022.

Note applicants who require a study visa for the purposes of studying at DCU, are advised to apply as early as possible.
