Subjects taught

The programme is delivered over two semesters



Autumn Modules

• Thesis Preparation & Thesis 1: During this semester, students participate in a thesis preparation module in order to produce a thesis proposal and present their work to a team of academics and invited industry experts. They will then be allocated a supervisor with whom they will work over the remainder of the semester and in the Spring semester.



Spring Modules

• Thesis 2: During this semester, students will continue to work on their thesis and present regularly to their supervisor. At the end of this semester, they will submit their work in a documented format and will be required to present their thesis to an invited audience in a formal setting as part of their final thesis assessment

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 8) with at least a second-class honours, grade 2 (2:2) in any discipline.



You must also hold two Professional Diplomas at Level 9, amounting to 60 ECTS credits.



Applicants who have completed one Professional Diploma at Level 9 (30 ECTS credits) and can demonstrate a minimum of five years of relevant industry experience may be considered for entry under the University of Limerick’s Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) Policy.

Graduates of the MSc Engineering Practice programme will possess the skills to identify challenges and design effective solutions for process improvements in their organisations. They will demonstrate critical and analytical thinking abilities, enabling them to evaluate and improve engineering projects and practices and ultimately impacting on their organisational performance. This programme is structured to support students in advancing their careers and achieving professional growth
