User Experience & Design - Waterford
This module guides you through the life cycle process of becoming a UX designer. The module focuses upon the creative, strategic & technical skills required in designing user experiences (UX). As part of this module you will develop a portfolio of work which may be used to showcase your skills in all aspects of the UXD process. Using a combination of theory & practice you will:
Explore the fundamental principles of visual design in order to dissect the meaning, perceptions & values we attach to aesthetic design including interface design
Plan & conduct UX led research into potential users through the use of personas, story mapping & scenarios
Apply UXD principles to content design & navigational architecture
Design visual elements that make user experiences enjoyable, engaging & user friendly
Appraise & evaluate usability in a wide range of contexts
Cultivate best practices as a Reflective UX Practitioner

Entry requirements
Applicants will normally require an Honours degree in computer science or related discipline. Applicants who do not hold the standard qualifying criteria, but have relevant industry experience, may be considered for admission under the University's Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
