Mid Cork Pallets & Packaging is Ireland’s leading manufacturer of pallets, distributor of packaging and supplier of storage solutions.

With over 700,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing and storage facilities to meet the advanced needs of our customers, Mid Cork Pallets & Packaging are the largest automated pallet fabricator in Ireland producing over 2.5 million wooden pallets per annum including ISPM15 Heat Treated Wooden Pallets, EURO pallets, Custom crates etc. Mid Cork Pallets & Packaging also supply, store and distribute in excess of 10,000 custom designed corrugated/cardboard packaging across the Food & Beverage, e-commerce, Pharmaceutical & Manufacturing industries.

We offer extensive warehousing and third-party storage facilities in our 2 locations in both Cork (60 acres consisting of over 500,000 sq. ft. of purpose-built manufacturing and storage facilities) and Meath (over 200,000 sq. ft. of storage facilities at our 15 acre Dunboyne facility).

THE ROLE – 12 Month Duration

With the expansion of the packaging and storage side of the business we are looking for a strong candidate to oversee and manage the warehouse and distribution management systems.

During this time, the graduate will rotate through different areas of the packaging business over a 1-year period. The year will be broken into 4 quarters. Each quarter you will work in a new area. The objective of each assignment is to develop a well-rounded skillset.

From this experience, the graduate will develop a deep understanding of MCP’s processes as well as develop his/her technical and interpersonal skills.

In addition to your development being supported by your manager, you will also be paired with a mentor who will assist you in navigating your career throughout the program.

The project will focus on all aspects of Business Operations within the company.

Main Duties

Strategy & Planning

  • Align the operational goals and activities with the strategic vision and objectives of the organization. A
  • Analyse the current state of the business, identify opportunities and challenges, and develop plans and initiatives to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of the operational plans and adjust them as needed to ensure optimal results.

Process Improvement

  • Optimize and streamline the processes that support the core functions of the business.
  • Mapping out the workflows, identifying the pain points and bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to eliminate waste, reduce errors, and increase productivity.
  • Ensures that the processes are documented, standardized, and compliant with the relevant policies and regulations.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Collect, analyse, and report on the data and metrics that measure the performance and effectiveness of the business operations using Databases, spreadsheets, dashboards.
  • Interpret and present the data in a clear and meaningful way, such as charts, graphs, or reports.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform decision making and action taking.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Responsible for engaging and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders that are involved or affected by the business operations. These stakeholders may include employees, managers, customers, suppliers, partners, investors, regulators, or competitors.
  • Build and maintain positive and productive relationships with the stakeholders, communicate and align the expectations and goals, provide feedback, and resolve any conflicts or issues that may arise.

Experience and Skill set Requirements

Essential Criteria

Candidates must possess:

  • To hold or due to be awarded, min of 2:2 in an Business/Commerce/Operational Management degree or Similar.
  • Legally permitted to work in the EU.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in Warehousing/Distribution and Supply Chain.
  • Experience and knowledge of Lean principles. Green belt would be a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving mentality.
  • Able to work as part of a team in a Warehouse type environment.
  • The ability to lead by example and develop other team members.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, with interest in developing IT skills – particularly in relation to Warehouse Management Systems.
