Devaney & Durkin- Trainee Accountant

Overview:
Devaney & Durkin is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Trainee Accountant to join our team. This entry-level position is ideal for someone with interest and experience in finance, accounting, or law. As a Trainee Accountant, you will work closely with senior accountants, gaining invaluable exposure to the full spectrum of accounting functions while developing your skills in a supportive and learning-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist senior accountants with preparing financial statements, reports, and tax documents.
• Support bank reconciliations, audits, and other accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
• Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning tasks, contributing to the firm’s financial operations.
• Learn to compile and analyse financial data, offering support in ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
• Gain exposure to client communications, assisting in managing financial queries and providing insights on financial performance.
• Assist in maintaining accounting records and ensure they are up-to-date and accurately reflect transactions.
• Take on progressively more responsibility, managing your own tasks with guidance from experienced accountants.
• Contribute to various special projects, supporting the firm’s operational and client needs.

Qualifications:

• A recent graduate with a degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related professional field.
• Previous internship or work experience in finance, accounting, or law is desirable, but not required.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, with a willingness to learn accounting software tools.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
• A proactive attitude and eagerness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
