Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Environmental Scientist / Engineer / Geologist to join our dynamic team based in Dublin. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our environmental compliance across all dewatering, water treatment, and environmental management projects. The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about environmental protection and sustainable practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection & Management: Collect and manage field data for all water sampling activities, including managing third-party laboratory services, database collation, geological mapping, and developing site plans and sections.
  • Sampling: Conduct groundwater and surface water sampling in accordance with company and industry best practices. Projects include greenfield, brownfield, dewatering (licensed discharge), IPPC sites, water treatment, and contaminated land site investigations.
  • Site Investigations: Supervise well drilling and logging for groundwater supplies and monitoring wells; oversee trial pitting and water sampling.
  • Technical Reporting: Critically appraise data and produce technical reports on water analysis, screening data against Generic Assessment Criteria, and assessing compliance with site-specific licences.
  • Client Liaison: Engage in client liaison and manage projects effectively.
  • Project Execution: Plan, organise, and execute projects both in the office and on-site to meet timelines and budgetary goals.
  • Communication: Use approved communication methods, including Smartsheet (SS), Telegram, video calls, and email, to keep the team updated, solve issues promptly, and document project progress.
  • Instrument Calibration: Perform calibration of water monitoring instruments to ensure accuracy.
  • Improvements & Innovation: Recommend improvements and innovations in equipment design to streamline project processes and reduce challenges.
  • Meetings: Attend and actively contribute to site and office meetings on all aspects of project work.
  • Safety: Record, document, and analyse incidents, near-misses, and accidents to foster a safer work environment.
  • Company Procedures and Practices: Demonstrate familiarity with, proficiency in, and adherence to all office and field procedures and practices.
  • Reporting Lines: Clearly understand and follow reporting lines, knowing the appropriate team members to contact based on specific project needs.
  • Vehicles: Organise and maintain any vehicle you drive, whether personal or company-owned, to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Store and Office Organisation: Organise, maintain and stock sampling equipment stores, suggesting and implementing constructive changes to improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
  • Preferably 2+ years of experience in environmental consulting, fieldwork, or related roles (entry-level applicants with strong academic background or internships will also be considered).
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations, including European guidelines and environmental compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and client presentations.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Certifications such as Safe Pass, Manual Handling etc.
  • Experience in groundwater and surface water sampling and remediation design.
