Role Overview

BnM has a large landbank and a diverse portfolio of projects in its development pipeline, including onshore wind, solar, energy storage, thermal generation and emerging technologies designed to address the evolving needs of the energy system.

As an Environmental Scientist Graduate, you will support the team with the delivery of planning applications, including coordination of baseline environmental and constraints assessments, layout and infrastructure design, Environmental Impact Assessment Reports and Appropriate Assessments for a variety of renewable energy infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Planning Team with the preparation and coordination of planning and environmental assessment requirements for renewable energy development projects, up to the point of the consenting decision and any subsequent challenges.
  • Assist with the coordination of baseline environmental surveys and constraints assessments that inform the design process, the Environmental Impact Assessment and Appropriate Assessments, and with feasibility and options assessment studies and the review of environmental survey programmes.
  • Provide project management and coordination support to the planning team, including recording and following up actions from project meetings, summarising the outputs of work streams, and updating project programmes, financial tracking, risk registers and issues and action logs.
  • Assist Project Managers and the Corporate Affairs and Communications & Engagement teams with materials for consultation with local communities and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure all work complies with BnM’s Health & Safety and Environmental policies and all relevant EU and national policies and statutory requirements.
  • Participate proactively in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of your own and the wider team’s objectives.

What We’re Looking For

  • Third-level qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent; a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline is desirable but not essential
  • Graduate or internship experience preferable
  • Knowledge of ecological surveying, report writing, peatland habitats, EIAR and AA desirable
  • Proficiency in MS Office, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good knowledge of digital data capture using GPS tablets and the processing and manipulation of survey data
  • Good knowledge of online sharing platforms such as SharePoint and ShareFile is a distinct advantage
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently, both individually and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A full clean driving licence is required
  • Experience in the energy or renewables industry is desirable
