Graduate Hydrogeologist - 2026 Graduate Programme
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Graduate Hydrogeologist to join our specialist team of groundwater practitioners located in Dublin, Ireland. The team is responsible for hydrogeological input to a portfolio of exciting, varied and multi-disciplinary projects and for groundwater-specific projects covering groundwater resources, groundwater engineering, and environmental impact assessment both in Ireland and internationally.
As a Graduate Hydrogeologist at Arup, You Will
- Conduct groundwater resources and supply investigations including borehole performance assessment, borehole feasibility studies, and the design and supervision of borehole supplies.
- Prepare and coordinate groundwater components of Environmental Statements/ Environmental Impact Assessments, involving the preparation of groundwater resources and groundwater flooding EIA documents and technical assessment. Provide responses to petition queries, perform hydrogeological analyses, and offer specialist opinions to support previously published environmental assessments.
- Undertake hydrogeological ground investigations, including conducting and analyzing hydrogeological pumping tests and environmental monitoring.
- Engage in groundwater modelling, including groundwater flow and contaminant modelling for engineering, resources, and risk assessment purposes.
- Perform hydrogeological impact assessment and mitigation for new developments and engineering proposals.
- Collaborate closely with designers of other disciplines to produce coordinated designs taking into account hydrogeological considerations.
- Attend project meetings and communicate with all grades of staff, external design team members, and clients.
Qualifications
We are looking for graduates currently pursuing a degree in Geology or Earth Science with an MSc in Hydrogeology or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have a higher degree in Hydrogeology, although consideration may be given to holders of a degree or higher degree in other subjects, provided they have relevant experience in hydrogeology.
